how far would you go . . . for someone you love? ♔ Levi steps forward, placing himself between me and Jack. Like he's protecting me from him. But I don't need protecting, certainly not from Jack. "Who do you think you are, dude?" Levi spits, getting in Jack's face. "Look, Scarlett was just helping me out with a proj-" "I'm not your dude," Jack bites, and I want to tear my hair out of my head. This is going downhill very fast. Jack turns to me. "Scar, we need to talk," he says lowly. Then loud enough for Levi to hear, "So can you please get this kid to leave." "Hey, you don't get to come in here and start ordering her around," Levi says harshly. "You don't control her." "And you think that you do?" Jack spits. ♔ When Scarlett moved off to college, she hoped to start anew and find her way in this world alone. Two problems. One: her older brother goes to the same college, and it seems like he's everywhere, keeping her from doing everything she hoped to do as a college freshman. Two: her brother's devastatingly handsome best friend also seems hell-bent on ruining her college experience . . . but in a different way. Their paths keep crossing, and Scarlett is reminded of the powerful attraction that they've both ignored for far too long. Not to mention, a new face begins to occupy everyday Scarlett's thoughts. When Scarlett is paired with an allusive, darkly handsome stranger for a film project, her world begins to open in ways she never thought possible. But as his mystery unravels into dark secrets, she wonders if she's falling a bit too hard. Before long, Scarlett is forced to realize that balancing the hearts of two boys at once just might result in the breaking of her own.

The two tried to dampen the flames of their burgeoning attraction for each other but not before they got caught and were the talk of the town for months. After the fall out, Maddie moved away to try and start her life over and not be known as the girl who got caught doing it with her 'brother' at prom. She hasn't seen her family in ages and intends to keep things that way. Jacob, on the other hand, has worked hard to accomplish everything he's ever dreamed of. He's stayed close to home, done exceptionally well at school, and is adored by just about everyone who meets him. There's only one problem: There's a Maddie-shaped hole where his heart used to be. But no matter how hard he tries to reach out and find her, he can't. She won't let him. He let her down and gave up on them when she needed him most. And she's not ready to forgive and forget. Featured on New Beginnings in Romance Picks Anthology at Romance - What do you do when your heart pulls you in two different directions? Hi, my name is Olivia Meyer, and I'm a seventeen-year-old girl who has a little confession: falling for Freddie Hutchinson, the school's infamous 'bad boy,' was never part of the plan. I've always been perfectly fine with my low-key life. Books over parties? Check. Silence over drama? Double-check. Honestly, I'm just trying to survive high school with my best friend, Tom McKenzie, by my side since he's the only person who's ever really seen me. But then I got paired with Freddie for a class project. Freddie Hutchinson, with his leather jacket, sharp smirk, and reputation darker than my coffee order. We've never spoken a word to each other before now, but suddenly, I'm seeing sides of him no one else seems to notice. Like the kind-hearted boy hiding beneath the tough exterior. And now my carefully crafted world is starting to crack. Alicia James, the queen bee of high school politics, isn't happy about the Status Quo changing and Tom... well, let's just say he's acting weird. Like, jealous kind of weird. The worst part? I think I might actually like Freddie. Like, love him. You read it right: love him. But if I choose him, I could lose everything else I care about. So, what do I do? Follow my heart, or stick to the plan? Either way, I have a feeling my senior year is about to get way more complicated than ever. Wish me luck. XO Olivia Copyright © 2024 by Alina Bryne
