I slowly looked up, meeting the eyes of two men staring coldly down at me.
I smiled up at them. Nearly grateful for their presence. I didn't know whether the exhaustion, drowning or hanging would have taken me first, but it looked to me that these men would make sure I wouldn't have to choose.
"State your intentions in these forests." The one to my left spoke up. I looked at him before moving my gaze over to the man on my right. Before I could take in their features, I saw movement behind them.
Five more men stood further behind the two in front of me, creating a half circle. I turned my head around and saw five more completing the circle on the other side.
I looked back at the two men. "All this for me?" I questioned, with a slight hint of humor in my voice. I couldn't tell whether it was the delirium from dehydration, or the lack of sleep that caused me to be bold in front of 12 threatening men. Maybe it was just me wanting to get this over with.
"State your intentions in these forests." The left one spoke again, this time more curtly.
I debated angering them to make this go by quicker, but they looked nice enough, and bored enough. Seeing they sent 12 men to check on one girl.
"I am here to die."
