I am Drake "Drago" Ward of the House of Ward in England...about five hundred years ago.
I crossed the seas to the Americas for a better "life" three hundred years ago.
Today, I run a successful business with my partner, Dr. Darius Chiron. Instead of catching psychic humans and turning them over to the government or other vampires to consume their blood for effect, we have become "blood brokers," screening and collecting blood from Vitales (our name for former blood slaves) and profit share with them. Sometimes it's hard to get good Vitales, so I use the government's list to obtain them and hopefully sway them. We are so successful, potential Vitales are starting to look for us, courting negative and jealous attention from the Vampire Elite.
But I met my match in Shanti, a runaway girl who catches my attention in the most surprising way. I don't want her to be a blood slave to anyone. I don't want her to be a Vitale. I want her to be mine.
