Kenny moved away for 5 years because he came out Pan to his parents. They sent him to live with his grandparents for 5 years. During those 5 years Butters got more lonely every day and he started to cut himself. He's tried to kill himself numerous times but couldn't do it knowing well hoping that Kenny will come and see him one day.
