SUBMISSION FOR THE LGBTQ SONGFIC CONTEST. Geeky, shy, and awkward, the three words Simon Duffner has heard (about himself) since the onset of puberty. From the onset of puberty, sixteen year old Simon is convinced he will remain geeky, shy, and awkward forever. His parents and grandparents referred to him as the modern Buddy Holly, whatever that meant. Simon didn't have a clue. Adam Durgin is the perfect golden boy, the all-star athlete for nearly every year of his life, the boy everyone loves to hate but can't. He sees something in Simon that no one else can see. He sees beyond the geeky, shy, awkward demeanor, beyond the dark-framed glasses. Sharing the same homeroom for the past two years, Adam notices Simon way before Simon ever notices him. Or does he? When Adam becomes the talk of the school after he is seen with Simon, Adam's response is, "I don't care about that."
