Lyra couldn't care less about this dumb war. She'd rather be a clueless muggle than be forced into the position she must play. She doesn't want to be evil, but she doesn't want to be good either. But with war fast approaching, she knows what her job is. She has to stand with her family, not for her father or even for her mother. But for her brother. Her brother was the only thing she truly cared about anymore, after being tossed around and having her emotions toyed with for years she's given up on the people around her. The only person she can rely on is her brother and she's not going to let him down. Whether that means abandoning her life and joining the good side or going against what she believes to join the ranks of death-eaters.
