The rift that kept us apart

Aaban has lived all his life in the shadows of a hushed secret. No one talks about his lost Uncle who has left for America before Aaban was even born. But now, Aaban wants to trace that family member who always stops his elders from smiling completely, from feeling any happiness to its fullest. That's why he sends the application in the first place.
Hania, his uncle's daughter, is also the freshman in the same college and same year. They have already been in touch with each other via social networks and through her, Aaban realizes that his Uncle is just as incomplete without the rest of their family, as he has seen his own father. The two of them comes up with a plan to reunite their family again. Childishly believing that just by seeing Aaban, his uncle Asfandyar would melt and decide to come back. Their family might just be whole again.
However, Uncle turns out to be even more dipped in hatred than even Aaban's father. They can die alone, but not get together and live with contentment. Just as Aaban and Eesha's attempts to get Uncle back home fails, Aaban's own father Furqan finds out about his plan and calls him to leave his education and come back.
Written in the similar vein of Sandhya Menon's "When Dimple met Rishi" or Jenny Han's "To All the Boys I've Loved Before": Iceberg is a story that takes the readers on a journey from the dorm rooms of Stanford to the bustling streets of Karachi - this cross-continental family drama follows these two characters as they try to figure out: family conflicts older than their age, find a way to get their family back together, before the crack between them turn into an uncrushable avalanche.
