At only seventeen, Luca Cavalli has come to the end of herself.

After a destructive dalliance with prescription pills and the boy who was gifting them to her, Luca lay in her bed on an unofficial house arrest. Her family are watching her every move, refusing to show her their disappointment as they try to aid her recovery, the daunting threat of relapse always present.

Luca finds that she has to reintegrate herself into the life she knew before she tried throwing it away, returning to school and to the church she'd been half-heartedly attending. As she's learned to expect, not everything goes to plan and Luca must face the challenges of heartbreak, rejection, guilt, gossip and shame, which are hard on her already fragile state-of-mind. These burdens aren't borne alone, however, with the help of her family, her childhood friend Caden and his father - who happens to be her pastor-slash-counsellor.
