It was the year 2030.
I had been alive for over 600 years. Over 6 centuries of feeding off of humans, killing any vampires that got in my way.
That day, the day the asteroid hit, every vampire's existence had changed. We could no longer take the humans for granted, since almost 95% of the population was killed.
The rest had underground hideouts, ones that they wouldn't come out of for hundreds of years.
Willingly.
Vampires have always been the superior species, at the top of the food chain. Now, however, there was no food chain. We were the only sentient beings alive on Earth.
Along with the other 5% of the human population.
Now, we have to survive on that 5%, while at the same time continue our species. There is nowhere near enough blood to feed every vampire. Sacrifices must be made.
And many will die, both human and vampire.

Not The Last {Rough Draft}
~Thank you for the continued love for this series! I was 13 when I began this book, and am now taking the time to go back to completely rewrite it, and maybe just publish someday~ I'm 15 and my name is Astrix. Let's start with that. (Currently being rewritten under a new name The Claimed) Everything changed when they came out of hiding, terror spread across the world as people began to question if our presidents and our global leaders lied to us and weren't from the same race. The Beasts blended in amongst us as if we were the same, except humans didn't have the same predatory instincts and we couldn't change our forms like they could. Soon after we learnt that we weren't the only species people began going missing. Some were unlucky and taken as something that the Beasts called a Mate that one word made fear spread throughout my veins, I would rather sell my soul than have one of them mutts chain me to them. Six months went by before the government, that was un-tainted by this vile race began to take action into their own hands contacting other countries and militaries causing the great war to happen, sending both my parents off to fight for our rights. Only one of them came back, two months was the longest we lasted before we were overpowered by them. Six years of living in this dysfunctional environment and my hatred had never dwindled. Content Warning-This story is meant for mature audiences. It features adult language, references, situations, sexual content, graphic violence, and gore. Fantasy, horror, and science fiction are my favorite genres to read. They are also my favorite to write. I've enjoyed writing since I won my first writing contest in the fourth grade. That was over twenty-five years ago and I haven't shared a sinlge word of it. Imposter syndrome is a bitch! Well, I finally managed to pull the trigger. Here is "O Negative". It's a mix of all of my favorite genres. I've mixed a fantasy, based on present-day Earth, with plenty of graphic horror and wrapped it all up within a world driven by the technological advancements that only can be obtained from millions of years of civilation. A small group of strangers find themselves surviving in a decimated world. It's bad enough to be stranded in a no-name town, but things become surreal when you realize the vast majority of humanity has died...it becomes terrifying when you realize you aren't that lucky to be alive. "Survivor's Guilt" isn't a thing when you find yourself the sole food source for an entire group of beings that no longer need to hide in the shadows. Man is no longer at the top of the food chain...they are now the cattle.

They say it's the one thing that will save us, that our humanity is the one thing that separates us from them. But I'm not so sure anymore. In 1999 the vampires stopped hiding amongst us. Our fascination with the supernatural was growing and they were welcomed into a world that had only ever feared them based on ancient fables, Hollywood horror movies and best selling novels. It wasn't the millennium bug we had expected, but life did change as the clock ticked over into a new year and it was never the same again. ----- Lucy Dames knew better than to go out after dark.
