Once Upon a Time....
There was a King, who locked up a Princess in a crystal tower guarded by a fire breathing Dragon. For four years the king has sent mighty warriors to slay the beast, but to no avail.
Now, with little hope, the King sends for the mightiest Knight in the realms to slay the Dragon and save his daughter....
That's always how the story starts isn't it? Knight saves Princess from the terrible Dragon. But not every fairytale is so simple. Not every Princess is frail. Not ever Knight is so brave. And not every Dragon is so terrible.
Sometimes it's good to follow the fairytale...
And sometimes it's better to always suspect the unexpected...

Welcome to my adventure into writing a short story for the Dragon Princess theme set by @_Once_Upon. If you find the idea of writing to a subject for a competition, make sure you check out Ever After Contests. This is a short story about a fiery princess who vows revenge on her would-be hero. The word count was a maximum of ten thousand words which wasn't easy to stay under; I wanted to keep going! I hope that you enjoy this tale, I certainly had fun writing it.
