Some things are never meant to happen the way that they happen. Some things are not supposed to break the way they break, but we are not in charge of this earth. We cannot oversee how things are fixed and how they break. We are only capable of putting the pieces back together...mending broken hearts and healing empty souls. Why him? They ask her constantly. Shit. That's how Derrick's life was going after the accident. Hazy memories and scars he didn't need were splintering what was left of what he did remember. Derrick's tattoo shop seemed to get along just fine without him, his magic abilities were short circuiting and for the first time in his life, he wasn't sure who he was anymore. Not to mention some guy named Mike insisted that they were best friends before he lost his memory. As if he'd be friends with someone who breathed positivity. The only thing Derrick wants to focus on right now is recovery and finding himself. But life, also known as Mike, keeps getting in the way. Completed January 13, 2019. I look away, its now my turn to study the horizon. I can feel heat blooming on my cheeks and I can feel his eyes taking in every bit of my face. I feel his finger softly touch my cheek. I jump a little, and he lowers his hand. "Sorry" He says softly, I can see his guard going back up. "No its fine-I just....wasn't expecting it." I say, swallowing. Did I really just say that? He was so focused on the strand, but then his focus spread to my eyes, the look in his eyes. Jesus, I'm going to melt. I continued to stare at the hospital lights which flashed in my eyes. See I never thought I would fall for him.
