An nameless apprentice takes on the unfinished portrait paintings of his suddenly deceased master in an attempt to secure funds to pursue his true dream: seafaring to the New World. However, while at the infamous and lavish court of Versailles catering to wealthy clients, he comes happens to make the acquaintance of a very intriguing man in both appearance and character; Henri Calais. An old friend of his late master, a peculiar man concealing something strange. Very strange, indeed.

And it is one that will fuel the game between the ladies of Belcourt and the gentlemen of the Royal Circus. Still set in the fictional world of the Kingdom of Sutherland, this story follows the first title of the series, Court of Flowers.
