"Below This Road"

"Looking up at the rainy night sky, feeling the tension every time I'm touched by a raindrop I lay down on the cold, wet floor, softly pressing my cheek against it. What is it like down there, I wonder? I don't believe in hell but what if there's another civilization down there, what if they're much more considerate than us humans?"

Ivy Henderson, a young teenage girl starts hearing a boy from below the surface talking to her. She accidentally tells her friends but they don't believe her and think she's schizophrenic. At the same time a machine for erasing memories and the illness of schizophrenic people is invented and her Mom thinks it would be best for her to attend that programme.
