This story began as a NaNoWriMo 2012 work, with no planning, and even less idea of plot. I learned from that experience that I am not a 'pantser' -and spent about 20 painful months trying to turn my stream-of-consciousness 3-stories-in-one into one coherent novel, following the timeline and events in the Book of Genesis. I discovered that that is not a great way to build a plot. I ended after 5 more drafts, at about 60k words. There is another draft on my blog, slightly longer, a bit more experimental. This is only meant to be a marker of progress. I hope some may find it enjoyable, useful, and even helpful. Over the Wall: A Collection of Short Stories (NaNoWriMo 2014) by emmernemmer

This year for NaNoWriMo, I am writing a short story anthology. It will feature thirty or so short stories (my hope is to write one per day to fulfill my 1,667 per day word requirement) about varying things. Each morning, I will randomly select a number between one and thirty and I will look at the corresponding list of first lines I will have. I will take that line and write a short story using it and then the next day I will do the process over again (some stories might relate to each other, some might not). Anyway I will edit the story for that day and post it here. It may not be posted exactly on the corresponding day, but in the end there will be thirty short stories. P.S. Although these are somewhat edited they are still rough drafts so please treat them as such.

Rachel is... dead and she journeys through the underworld to see where she truly belongs. I know this isn't the normal kind of thing that I post on here, but this was the story I was writing for NaNoWriMo 2017 so I figured I'd share. This is my first time attempting to write a novel, so I apologize if it doesn't turn out too well. Also, this is just the first draft that I have decided to publish.

I Went Down (NaNoWriMo Read-Along) by bloshb

A story about Emmy Jane, a girl who has come to make a name and a place for herself in the big city of Delta Mouth, about Cal, a nightclub owner haunted by the ghost of his dead lover, and about a killer for the mob named Dapper Jack. It's a tale of death and redemption, of love and hate and jealousy. It's a tale of dream and of nightmares. It's a tale that is still mostly in my head, but as NaNoWriMo steams along, it is coming into being. This year, I've decided to post a read-along version through WattPad. Sharing this raw, first draft is sort of the literary equivalent of walking around in my underwear, but I'm doing it anyway. Feel free to follow along and point out any developing plot holes. I'll post new text Monday-Wednesday-Friday.

The Hawaiian Special Forces by WingedPanther73

This is the story I'm writing for NaNoWriMo 2015. The goal: 50,000 word RAW draft written entirely in the month of November. Unlike most of my stories, which I prefer to edit before posting, I'm actually going to post updates to this at the end of each day in chapter-sized chunks. The idea behind this story is that a terrorist attack in the near future causes the US to go hyper-isolationist, to the point that it abandons Hawaii and Alaska to fend for themselves. They do, forming the United Pacific States (maybe with a few other island countries). Hawaii then goes on to turn itself into the new world police with stealthy, genetically modified cyber-soldiers. I'm marking this story as mature because there will be action scenes, and probably some interesting perspectives on nudity and relationships. I'm not planning on anything explicit, but this won't be a kids book. Validated winner at 50,040 words!
