Yamata et Ito sont deux personnes qui se sont rencontrer par hasard durant un  voyage sur les mers,un périple  qui se déroula  durant  une année. 
 c'est deux personnes n'ont fais attention l'une à l'autre jusqu'au jour ou le navire s'échoua sur une île et seule Yamata et ito ont survécu  à ce naufrage,les autres passagers et leurs familles  ont péri en mer. 
Yamata et ito  ont découvert un  reste de nourriture  dans un compartiment du bateau ont ainsi que quelques  habits de rechange pour le mois restant .
