Laree Nurmeén was born on the planet Agracia where everyone is assigned a soulmate from birth. Every night until you meet your soulmate, you die of a broken heart, chest burning and throat tightening. Nearly everyone meets their soulmate before the age of 16.

Laree is nearing her 21st birthday where she will be executed if her soulmate isn't found. Positive she is never meant to find love, Laree flees from her home planet and lands on earth where she is offered refuge by a kind coroner and a landlady in Brooklyn. Not too far away, Bucky Barnes is having his own dilemma of settling into life with his roommate, the new Captain America, Sam Wilson while trying to track down Brooklyn crime lord, William King.
