Split Differently

I scream as the sound of gunshots fill the air. Rio dragged my arm and pulled me behind what used to be a bar table. She turns to leave, but I grab her arm. " Rio, what are you doing?"

She smiles as she gently pulls her arm out of my grasp. " I'll be right back, I promise."

Tamara's life was nothing out of the ordinary. Go to school, get loaded with homework, get pushed down the stairs, pick your notes from the trash, nothing special about it. She never thought about anyone else but her family and Rio, her best friend.
