My knight and both of my walls were gone. Then it was my bishops. I'm losing. Pain and anger ignited my heart as I looked at my opponent for the first time. It was a smiling Shu with a pair of cold but warm eyes. Then I see my last knight that has my brother's features carved onto it. It was discarded to the edge of the board. I picked it up and put it with the rest of my pieces. Shu's expression changed to shock. The tides slowly turned.
Smiling innocently, I said,

A set of chess stands at my bedside table, the white row perfectly in line while one of the black knights already moved. I furrow my eyebrows at the wrongdoing but then remind myself of one thing; he doesn't play by the rules. Picking up the small letter in the middle of the checkerboard, I keep the creeping fear at bay and read the four words followed by his signature, surprisingly neatly written. "Prepare to be checkmated - Nick."

I haven't had a boyfriend in almost a year. Reason being I got hurt by the one I loved, the one who I had hoped to share a future with, the one who broke my heart. I was scared of ever falling in love again, would get upset with every guy who looked my way as I feared the worst and I also knew that most of them weren't looking for the type of relationship that I want so I would reject them all. My heart felt cold, I felt heartless and I didn't care about loving another anymore. That soon came to an end though and the only regret I had about that was letting my wall down for another 'potential heartbreaker'.
