And when her mother dies in an accident she was a part of, her only other relative Nana turns her back on her and her sister tries to build a bridge between their relationships. This only hardens Serenity's heart more and she distances herself to focus only on her goals. This worked for a time. Until a party and a phone call from Nan changes Serenity's whole life around until she finds herself on a mission to find out her past, her family, and most of all her iminent role in a world plauged by evil forces and fairies.
