"Shhh.... Shh.... Listen, Eddie, listen.", he said, cupping my cheeks. I tried to catch my breath long enough to say something maybe close to coherent, but I only managed to yell at him. "What, what?!?" I cried. He pulled me closer, trying to calm me down. "Listen outside, to the roof- the plants baby, listen.", he said, running his fingers through my hair. I only sobbed louder a couple of times. He pulled my head against his chest and scooted back against the wall, holding me tight. I layed against him and held on. I was still shaking hard after what had just happened. I didn't know what he wanted me to listen to until he said it. "Black rain, Ed.... Listen.... We're safe, baby, they can't get us now....", he said. I suddenly felt relief sweeping over me and I drew in a deep breath, letting out a sob that was more out of joy. "Come on baby, let's sit outside.... The air out there is better than it is in here.", he said. I looked up at him and shook my head. "No.... Black rain only lasts five minutes after bombings, they'll come back as soon as it ends....", I said. Just as thunder rumbled. "does that sound like five minutes?" he asks me with a reassuring smile. "Come on, Eddie. You need fresh air. Living cooped up in here all the time is killing us. This is what we need." He's right. Living this way is killing me.... But at least I found Chris when I did....
