"I said, where have you been Cora" he asked taking a step closer. I unconsciously lifted one foot onto the step behind me as I gulped. My blood was rushing through my body at such a stupid rate all my organs had probably collected in my shoes.
"I...I....I couldn't sleep so I went for a walk" I managed to spit out, my voice wobbled a little as I saw his hands clench into a fist. For the first time I was actually shit scared of the man standing in front of me. He had never hurt me before but something told me he would tonight.
Suddenly he sprang forward leaping up three steps. I was so shocked I just stood there frozen, and then my adrenaline kicked in.
