This is the, mostly complete, first three chapters of a romance novel set near the end of the American Civil War and about midway through reconstruction. Mary Cummings, a daring young woman who spies for her nation of Georgia, finds herself mysteriously attracted to a union officer. The sparks don't really start to fly until the meet after the war when, as a 'carpet bagger', the officer is part of the effort to rebuild the railroads and repair the damage the war has done to Georgia.All Rights Reserved

I based some of facts in the story on writings left behind by my family that lived here in Indiana in the 1860s. My ancestors were Quaker and they were abolitionists in Indiana. We still have their homes used in the underground railroad in our family. My other side was endangered servants from Ireland and my great-great-grandfather was, unfortunately, one of the soldiers that came to Indiana while serving under John Hunt Morgan. But everything changes the moment she meets a gallant soldier in the enemy camp, who tries in every possible way and for unknown reasons to save her life and bring her back to her native home. Betrayal of one's own will cost a soldier very much. Maybe even his own life. How will Elizabeth cope with the idea that she will never see her lover again? Will she endure the feeling of loss? Or maybe she won't care about all this at all and she will live her dream life in peace?

Y'all ready for a cheezy ass summary?! Because I'm not. ---- Basically it's a modern Hamilton/Jamilton AU (wow. much original). Thomas and Alexander are roommates and Thomas gets lung cancer and shit happens. It's an emotional roller coaster so have fun. ---- I was really tempted to write something like: *insert depressing/dramatic music* What will happen when Alexander finds out his roommate and worst enemy had *pause for dramatic effect* lung cancer. *audience gasps* I am so sorry.
