This is the, mostly complete, first three chapters of a romance novel set near the end of the American Civil War and about midway through reconstruction. Mary Cummings, a daring young woman who spies for her nation of Georgia, finds herself mysteriously attracted to a union officer. The sparks don't really start to fly until the meet after the war when, as a 'carpet bagger', the officer is part of the effort to rebuild the railroads and repair the damage the war has done to Georgia.All Rights Reserved
