"I know."

"Does that mean...?"

"More than likely." I turned from the burning wreckage and looked him dead in the eye. "In my defence I was left unsupervised."

[COMPLETED] "Shoot," Joey mumbles, letting out a string of profanities under his breath. We turn around to find a group of men, all with guns, standing where we just came from, and they look pissed... probably because they were forced to run through this tunnel after us. "Thought you could get away, didn't you?" The man who I saw before asks. His husky voice booms in the hollow tunnel, reverberating off of the dirt walls. His voice sounds familiar, and a realization strikes me. It sounds like the man from my dream. I remember him holding a gun and wearing a blue suit, smiling evilly at me. "Leave us alone," Joey says, sounding dangerous and snapping me out of my thoughts. The levity of the situation hits-we need to get out of here. I look around for a route of escape and thankfully I see a light, literally, at the end of the second tunnel. I let out a small, almost inaudible, gasp and nudge Joey. He looks at me and I subtly gesture with my head to the second tunnel. He glances at it and immediately we are on the same page. His jaw sets and he looks at the group. The man speaks up again, chuckling darkly-a sound I will never forget and will be permanently etched into my brain, "You can thank your father for starting this mess." -------------------------- Liza was a normal teenaged girl, living the average life that an eighteen year old girl should be living. She had good friends, good grades, a happy family, a loving boyfriend, and an overall content life, seemingly having everything a person could ask for. However, when she somehow gets thrown into the mix and is in the crossfires of a brutal mafia war that she has no business being a part of, things spiral out of control and she has to do whatever it takes to regain her freedom. In this hectic adventure of gun fights, torture, bank robbing and intimidating mafia men, Liza has to face it all, putting her average life on the line in order to defeat the bad guys and go back to her normal way of living.

"Destroy him. Get close, seduce him... and then take everything." Catherine Lee didn't come into this world looking for love. She came with a mission and a reason no one could ever guess. In her eyes: ice. On her lips: lies. In her heart? Only revenge. Harry Bailey - a ruthless gangster who thinks he's seen it all, but the real danger isn't the bullets flying around him - it's the woman he just let into his world. And into his bed. This story is raw, full of lies, violence, lust, and blood. Every character hides something. Every scene leaves a scar. And the biggest shock? Wait for the very last page. .................................................................................. - How many of them are there? - I said quietly, walking forward. - Like? - he looked at me strangely. - Bodies - I whispered. - Oh - he threw away the cigarette and stamped it out - 18. I blinked quickly in shock and swallowed hard. I felt as if there was a lump in my throat. - There are 18 roses in your bouquet. We will pay tribute to the deceased by throwing one rose on their body. I nodded in understanding, looking at the tips of my shoes. There was silence around us and a light wind. It was the first time I witnessed something like that and I didn't know how I should behave or feel. .................................................................................. "Previously known as... Scarletstroke: Girl assassin" * No hesitation * No killing of children * No killing of innocent people * No emotions * And defenitely, NO falling in love ~ Those are the main rules code named Scarletstroke, former assassin Scarlett Gonzales lives by. She is a highly-trained, highly-precise and highly-dangerous killer who considers herself the same as any other businesswoman, doing 'just her job' and convincing herself that she is dealing with 'just her target' rather than a person. She succeeds in contract killing better than any known assassin that ever existed and successfully ignores all feelings or emotions, knowing that they tend to make the "job" not go as planned. So when a new contract comes in and the mark is a certain gang leader that caught Scarlett's eye, she couldn't resist venturing deeper into a world filled with illegal activities on a personal mission to find out why he has a price on his head. Although, what she finds in that world isn't quite what she expected. Now, torn between duty and passion, Scarlett must decide if she pulls the trigger or if she becomes the target herself? Who knows, maybe he might be the answer to her deepest desires. Because her next target: Cayden Carlisle. +++ The culprit took in a deep, calming breath. "You may as well shoot me now, but just know that I am still going to kiss you." By the time he grabbed her waist with one hand and her wrist, connecting to the hand holding the gun, with the other... she was lost. Completely gone. She never stood a chance. His smell, his mouth, his soft growling noises. They were more than enough to disarm her. "I finally figured something out about you." He whispered, pulling her closer, trying to meld every part of her to him. "You display all your emotions through body language. In this case, your hand is betraying your mask." Every word of his was chosen for maximum impact. No wasted syllables, no extra breaths. Just facts.
