From a very young age, the Carlington siblings have been exposed to the world of science and technology for their father, Professor Zachary Carlington, was a scientist who had an undeniable passion with the human DNA and he strongly believed that one day he could create a serum that could improve the human evolution. A serum to modify particular DNA to create stronger and more resilient DNA. And after many failed attempts, he finally figured out the perfect formula, and called his creation Serum EVO5, which targeted the DNA of the five senses. With this, he believed that it could be the cure for all illness. Everything was going great. But before it could get tested properly, his wife and the mother of his children, Madelyn became very ill. Determined to save her, Zachary went for the serum, untested and all, in hopes of saving his ill wife. But before he could reach her, he watched her take her last breath and close her eyes. He was too late. He couldn't save her. And that's when he lost his mind and so to protect the rest of his family, each of his children were given a sample of the untested EVO5, and although warned of what may happen, he didn't care of the consequences. That night his children were in coma. Accused of using untested scientific substances for personal use and the act of harming his children, he was arrested, unknowing whether the serum had taken effect or if he really had lost his family. A few days later, the children woke up feeling stronger that before. Each realising that the serum had enhanced one of their senses. But being young, they were under constant laboratory surveillance. And after many years, they learnt and adapted with their newfound abilities and had made an oath to use it for the well-being of the world. To the world, they were heroes. But to themselves, what were they?

"Three weeks. That's how long I got to have drama-free. I'm not sure what is happening to me or to Oakwood. Nothing's the same since I rolled into town and it just keeps getting weirder. Suspicious agents in suits roam the streets without an explanation. They're staring straight at me. The new Chemistry teacher is NOT who he says he is. I'm doing things I never thought I could. Like, mutant-level things... Lauren, Luc's dead twin sister, hid something from everyone. Something important that may have lead to her demise and that could lead to ours. Hunters are in town. I never knew four words could contain so much dread and terror. I'd rather deal with the Wanderers. I'm on the brink of a breakdown. I need help..." BOOK #2 IN THE SERIES! Ignorance is not bliss... In the wake of ridding Oakwood of Wanderers, other dangers come creeping in and they're somehow linked to Luc's absent twin. The past returns to haunt the mutants in inconspicuous ways. Riley's life is yet again in jeopardy, but this time she's not alone. Luc and his family are all thrown into the teetering balance. More secrets are uncovered. A trap dawns on them all. Invisible threats start crawling from all directions. Who is the real enemy? TW : behaviours of depression and PTSD are displayed. I don't name them, but one of the character will be struggling a lot. It may not be suitable for everybody. Other adult matters are briefly included, but nothing explicit or intense. Rewriting specifications : the main points of the story and end of the book will remain the same, am just going to change a few ways of getting there and adding some extra spice. Feel free to pause the read until the REWRITING sign disappears.
