Luke hasn't had it easy. At the age of seven his mother died of an overdose and he was put into care. Until he was 18, he was shipped in and out of different foster homes. This took a toll on his behaviour, schoolwork and relationships. Now at 21, after being released from prison, he is homeless. He crashes with friends as much as possible but is frequently left sleeping on the streets. It's been like that for nine months now, after all, who wants to employ someone with a criminal record?

Katie has a lot of demons. Three months ago, she attempted to kill herself. No one saw it coming. Katie was the kind of girl that was always smiling and had hundreds of friends. However, she was struggling. Ever since the sudden death of her father ten months previous she'd been finding it difficult to cope. Despite the medication and the therapy sessions, Katie feels like she's spiralling out of control.

When Katie meets Luke she feels hopeful for the first time since the passing of her father. However, as their friendship develops and their troubled pasts are revealed things begin to get complicated. Katie and Luke are two people that would normally have never met. Will their story have a happy ending, or will they cause each other to crash and burn?
