To slow things down, a society called the Child Allocation Bureau passed a law that it was only 1 child per family other wise the other child would be put in Cryosleep, a system where everything the body does to function is frozen. What happens when a woman called Karen Settman has 7 daughters and leaves them in the hands of her father after her untimely death? What will he do?

In this society, twice a year they have this thing they do called the slimming out ceremony. This slimming out ceremony is to help the city slim out, like in the name. Though the cities that do this ceremony are the biggest so why do they do this? They only take out ten people for the whole year. Five for every half year. Why are the people that control the city really doing this? On the day of the slimming out ceremony they kill five people. Everybody huddles around their TV waiting for their name not to be chosen.
