"I'm not a fighter, and I'm certainly not a revolutionary. I'm just a healer." Adriana once fought for her life in the Colosseum. When she finally laid down her sword, she swore never to pick it up again. Now a healer, she keeps her head down, tending to the wounded and trying not to draw attention to herself. But when she's pulled into a brewing rebellion she never meant to join, Adriana is forced to confront a past she thought she'd left behind─and a future that demands more of her than she is willing to give. But, then she meets Acacius─a Praetorian guard, whose belief in a freer Rome is unshakable. And to Adriana's frustration, so is his belief in her. She's spent years avoiding the fight, haunted by what it cost her the first time. But, Acacius sees the fire she's tried to smother, and Adriana starts to wonder if survival is still enough... or if it's time to fight for something more. "I never asked for this rebellion, but I don't see any other way. If we don't fight, what's left for us?" ── STARTED: 17/11/2024 FINISHED: 28/05/2025 ── 🏆ACHEIVEMENTS🏆 4 in #thelastofus 1 in #pedropascalfanfiction 4 in #gladiator2 10 in #paulmescal 3 in #pedro 1 in #generalacacius 1 in #regularupdates 1 in #denzelwashington 9 in #mandalorian 7 in #pascal 3 in #pedropascal 10 in #firstperson ── ⚠️WARNING⚠️ mature themes, including coarse language, sex, graphic depictions of violence and death. The Emperor's Daughter

22 parts Complete Mature

Aurelia hates the arena. She hates the gladiators, she hates the animal fights, the blood, the guts, the glory. She avoids the violence by staying away from the Colosseum until the day she decides to try and save a few lives from dying in the arena. It's there that she meets Caius. Caius loves the arena. As a gladiator he loves the cutthroat challenge of it, the comradeship of the men, the honor of fighting for his country. His desire is to fight as long as he can and when he has nothing else to offer, to go out in a blaze of glory under the open sky of the arena. It's there that he meets Aurelia. When Caius is assigned to be Aurelia's new guard, he's more than distraught about no longer being a gladiator. Aurelia isn't too fond of the idea either considering the giant of a man represents everything she dislikes about the gladiator fights. When Venus' wind grazes both of them and disdain turns to desire, both find arrangement rather to their benefit. A romance between a gladiator and an emperor's daughter is no match for marriage though, putting them both at risk when Venus pulls them together. Doomed from the start Caius and Aurelia will have to decide just how much they're willing to risk and just which door they're willing to walk through to find what they desire on the other side.
