Emerson Porter has accepted her mother's abandonment 14 years ago. But the summer before her senior year, she receives a letter from her mother... Emerson's mom asks her to spend the rest of her academic year in Colorado. Emerson accepts the invitation, bringing along her art supplies, precious vinyls and her extensive collection of novels.
As for West Davis, he doesn't want to be labeled as one of the 'Davis Boys' and has big dreams of making a name separate from his surname. Living with three other sibling makes his life a bit more dramatic to boot. In a battle over wits and sarcasm Emerson and West quickly synch into each other's lives.
While Emerson accidentally stumbles into a web of lies she never intended to be in; West realizes he has to choose between the life he's always wanted or his brother who, because of one drunken night, betrayed everyone.
Can West and Emerson's friendship become an anchor for them to hold onto while their realities come crashing down around them? Or is it just the way life goes?
