Third and final instalment of my series, following on from Absolute but can be read standalone. 

In light of recent events, relationships are strained more than ever but with the promise they'll always come back. While Noct is gone, the remainder of his retinue are left to pick up the pieces of themselves, each other and the world in his stead, until the day their King finally returns to fulfil his calling. Ignis and Gladio know what the price is, Prompto is oblivious but rightly so, it'd destroy him.

Sequel to Surprises but can be read standalone. Covers the in-game events (aside from the millions of sub quests that are irrelevant) up to the World of Ruin. The boys are setting out for Altissia, but nothing ever goes according to plan as they'll soon find out. What was meant to be a simple and straightforward journey, end's up a series of trials and tribulations for all of them, losses ensue and friendships are tested, but the main thing is they stick together. Prompto will find his calling through his depressing thoughts and will depend on those he cares most for to pull him through... even if it means to sacrifice a life in the end. *SOME GAME AND MOVIE SPOILERS* Warning: Contains violence and some descriptions of graphic content. Self harm and suicide is explored, but not described in great detail and mental health issues are apparent in some characters. Promptis is mildly explored ( but in a more very close best friend relationship ) I do not own Final Fantasy, Square Enix, the original story or any of the characters mentioned. Noctis is bored of fighting the Magitek Troopers that seem insistent on raining from the sky every five minutes. At first the thrill of battle had been elating, but the Empire's attempts to kill him were nothing but frustrating at this point. Ignis shouts a warning, the hatch of the Imperial Aircraft opens up and mechanical soldiers attack. It's the same metal men, over and over. Nothing's ever been unique about them, not one has ever stood out from the rest. Not until today. -- In which Insomia never fell and the Empire try to kill Noctis instead, and Prompto never escaped Niflheim: he's an MT. However, the urge to kill can't stop the blonde's desire for friendship. And, of course, Chocobos.
