And Shane was just that — he was just another chameleon.

so this was my entry to the COMMON ROOM CONTEST by the Freshman15's. i didn't get in, sadly, but i'd still like to post this and have other people scrutinize it. not everyone's a critic, but that doesn't mean that no one can give good advice.

Based on a dream, which was a really good one, that I decided to add some things to it to make a great story. Once Krissy meets Ryan, she is melting. She loved him as soon as she saw him. She always just feels like cupping his face in her hands and giving him a big old smooch. She sometimes just wants to let him know how she feels. But, that's not how it works. Krissy knows that he probably doesn't like her back, and that they will never be together, but every conversation or text message makes her love him even more. She just wishes that she didn't like him, so that she wouldn't feel so sad to be without him. But, she can't live without him. She has been waiting for someone like him all her life, but how can they be together? She has other problems, too. She has to deal with her dirty cousin, her other cousins love triangle, skunks, bats, fist fights, crazy parties, her best friend who can't get in a relationship, and a creepy player who won't stop bothering her. And what happens, when each of them are put in a life or death situation? Can they save each other? An Unexpected Moment
... that changes everything Sarah was starting her junior year of high school. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a pretty average blonde haired, blue eyed, teenager. She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote.
