Jace is an outsider. He has foster parents of the black culture, but he's white. Set in 1998, racism is a heavy topic that began 100 years ago, but what is it really like to be on both sides of a racist comment? And what about other mixed cultures? Education in a school full of American-white culture, and a small percentage of African-black, Jace has never discovered a real mixed race person. Hiding down at a nursery, he comes across a lady of mixed culture but finding this person caused a heart beat to flutter. Jace learns the struggle of her life on the other side of town and battles to solve the breaking relation of diversity. Living in a town of war, he finds it hard it to keep that heart-beat, but will it all end with loving hugs or flowers on a grave?

What ties us to the Earth? What is life after death? Why do we continue to live in a world full of broken promises and empty smiles? Jace Abney has been wondering this for all of his life.
