Fire-Scale is scared, because not only is he called "Fire" when he doesn't have any fire scales, his scales are a bright, bright red and orange, giving him a bad name. 

Fire-scale is in constant fear, after accidentally killing one of Scarlet's main guards. She is quite suspicious of the fact that he seemed to have a silent buzz. He isn't sure whether to fight, because he didn't want to lose his soul with the magic he had.
