Sally’s mother keeps playing Connie Stevens’ Sixteen Reasons when she should be playing ABBA or The Bay City Rollers. Sally wants four things. For the world’s handsomest man, Ray to notice her, for Greg the dag, to rack off, to get her ears pierced, and to experience her first kiss.

It’s 1975, everything is changing. Anything could happen.

Sixteen Reasons is a novella. It includes day dreaming, pain for beauty’s sake, balloon dogs, zombie guts, long haired men in leather, fireworks, and the sweetest lip lock this side of the hip, cool and groovy 70s. It's a companion story to Hooked on a Feeling which ideally should be read first.

Sydney didn't have much, but that was fine with her. She didn't need much. Growing up on the Washington coast in a lonely beach town, working quietly behind the scenes was what she was good at. Living on the beach was much less glamorous than most people imagine. Her home was a beat up old Winnebago that she had shared with her father until he passed. Her father had been a detached parent. He loved his daughter of course, but he was by no means an affectionate man. She had grown up fending for herself, working backstage at a bar that hosted live bands using a fake ID. After the death of her father she saw an ad for a guitar technician for a local Seattle band. A love of rock and roll had been the one thing that her and her dad had in common. Selling everything that she didn't need she packed up her pickup truck and travelled north to the city, leaving the sleepy town in her rear view mirror. She didn't expect to embark on what would become the adventure of a lifetime. For someone who had hardly left the town she grew up in, the opportunity to get paid to travel the country and listen to great music was a dream come true. The band became her family, and life on the road was a perfect fit for her. Chris Cornell instantly became Sydney's best friend in the whole world. They were in love, that was plain as day to anyone who paid attention. Yet, sometimes love isn't as simple as it should be. Sometimes, love hurts. Warning: This book covers potentially triggering subjects such as depression, suicidal ideation, domestic abuse, sexual assault, poverty and drug use. These are issues that many of us have faced and are very real. If you or a loved one is experiencing suicidal thoughts or abuse in a relationship, please reach out and find help.
