Wei Wuxian is a loud and outgoing guy with two siblings. A younger brother named Jiang Cheng and an older sister named Jiang Yanli. Though he tends to joke around alot and breaks rules, he is really smart and depressed. He had just transferred to Cloud Recesses, a very strict highschool for his senior year.

Lan Wangji is a quiet and reserved guy who follows all rules and is a part of the student council at Cloud Recesses. He has an older brother named Lan Xichen who is very cheery and nice - complete opposites. He has the best grades at school and doesn't have that many friends. In fact, people avoid him for how strict he is, but Lan Zhan doesn't quite mind though it does get lonely.

What happens when the careless Wei Wuxian breaks the rules and has to deal with the stuck up Lan Wangji? What happens when Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji get closer? What if Lan Wangji finds out about Wei Wuxian's sorrow and tries helping him, which then causes him to fall in love? As Lan Zhan slowly tries to understand his feelings, Wei Wuxian is running from his, afraid of being hurt again. How will their romance surface when both of them are opposites and run from their feelings?
