Theia wasn't good at people. In fact, she hated talking to most of them. Not because she found them annoying and rather unintelligible (even if she totally did), but because she didn't understand them. Like, at all. 

 She would later admit that people became a teeny, tiny bit more bearable when she met Apollo.

Apollo couldn't find a way out of the luxury built around him. As a trust fund baby, all he wanted was the experience of what one might sarcastically call a "mortal life".  

All he knew was that he would suffocate soon if he didn't escape his diamond crested reality.
