You shot up, gasping in shock and alarm. What... what happened? Where were you?
Your eyes darted around the unfamiliar room, drinking in your surroundings as your heart thundered in your chest. There was soft light drifting down to where you were, the glow puddling around a bed of golden flowers that you were currently sitting on. Glancing up, you could see rocky walls fading into the distance, with a small pinprick of light far up. Strange, it seemed like the light should be much fainter after traveling such a far distance. You glanced down at the golden flowers again. It almost seemed like they were amplifying the dim light, maybe with some sort of bioluminescence. The calm scenery helped you calm down, your heartbeat slowly returning to normal.
Your eyebrows furrowed. Where had that word come from? Bioluminescence. You remember what it means, but not how you know...
Come to think of it, you were blanking on a lot of other things. Like how you got here. How to get out. What your name was.
You started to hyperventilate, wrapping your arms around your knees and pulling them closer to your chest so that you were in a little ball, rocking back and forth. Your chest hurt, like a giant block of stone was resting on it. You kept blinking, trying to hold back the tears that threatened to spill down your face. One single, terrifying question beat against your skull, making your head hurt.
Why didn't you remember anything?

My soulmate AU is a bit different than others tho (I think). It branches off of the hanaki disease, but without the one-sided love. If a monster and a human are paired together, the human gains the drawbacks of the bond, getting said disease. Bonds such as this are rare, but apparently not TOO rare for your case. The only way to rid yourself of the disease is to mix the flowers with your bonded's blood (monsters don't bleed, but as a substitute, they can infuse a small amount of HP into the mixture to have the same affect). This antidote is unknown, as is the sickness, due to it being mostly off the records for decades. There are some small studies on it though, but most humans don't find their monster soulmate. Lucky for you, the fates are cheering you on.

This isn't a typical sans x reader(now papyrus x reader too). It's got more than that, well at least a different plot device first chapters will be about, just you(but it'll be good, I think so)and it's about you dear reader, you are now reborn as a Sans of a different au, but you don't have time to marvel how you're been reborn as your favorite character, because if you want to live you better focus because unlike frisk you're not coming back a second time when you die.
