July 11th, 1899, two weeks before the strike.
The tension in New York grew as Newsies' failed to sell the measly headlines. A newsboy by the alias Jack Kelly had been raising suspicion with ideas of a somewhat strike. The World ate up every last penny he paid them, and for what? So he could haul a hundred "papes" around Manhattan Square.
Times were lonely and dull. Sure he had the Newsies, but they were in the same boat as him. He needed someone who could take him out of the stink of Manhattan.
Enter, Davey Jacob.

He wasn't so lucky this time around and passed away due to blood loss. This drove their mother into a state of insanity, forcing Davey and Les to pack up their things and leave. They now live on the streets with their fellow newsies, struggling to support themselves just like every other newsie. Their lives were still pretty crappy and hopeless, but hey, they were still alive and that was what mattered. Then, a new kid shows up at the gates of The World and sends their lives into chaos once more.Complete
