Il permet à chaque individu de connaître son destin d'après son ADN et ses capacités. Ainsi, chaque citoyen se voit octroyer, après la Révélation un métier et un partenaire génétiquement adapté. Jamais un gouvernement n'a aussi bien fonctionné, ne laissant aucun membre de la communauté en retrait, attribuant à chacun une place qui est la sienne.
Mais dans ce monde utopique, il existe aussi des personnes qui ne correspondent pas au Système. On les appelle, les Uniques.
