"State your name."
The girl's eyes are glazed over. "Kaisee Alguaciles-Cardoso."
There is an uncomfortably long pause.
"State your species."
Her head lifts a little at that.
"H-human?"
Another pause follows her response.
"State your previous residence."
Her mouth twitches. "Why are you asking me these questions?"
"To be honest Kaisee, we have never had a human on our planet. We are merely-"
"Let me go!" She struggles against the invisible restraints. "Someone tell me what the fuck is happening!"
The glass turns dark, obscuring her from my view. Her screams are muffled, but they are still there.
"Please, let me see her."
The guard seems to look through me. "We cannot complete that request."
"You know that I can communicate with her if you just let me. She's my guardian!"
The guards flinch at my voice. "If you do anything out of line we are ordered to bring you straight to the black box."
I groan and bring myself to the darkened glass. "I waited my entire life for her. I'm not going anywhere."
