Cars are complex vehicles that are exposed to a lot of wear and tear. They perform well when you drive them out of the dealership and are designed to live up to industry standards, but they become less efficient with time. That's why the government of the UK recommends getting a MOT testing done regularly to ensure the car is in good shape. Here's a look at some of the facts about MOT:
What is MOT?
The Ministry of Transport Test or MOT Test is designed to assess the road-readiness and eco-friendliness of a vehicle. A technician will examine different systems like transmission, engine, exhaust, etc, carefully to ensure everything is in working order before providing documentation that indicates the car is safe to drive.
MOT establishes a standard and all vehicles on the road in the country must adhere to it. If your car isn't tested or doesn't live up to these standards, it's not safe to drive it on public roads.
When Should You Get MOT in Chessington?
The Ministry of Transportation has made MOT test mandatory for all cars over three years old. You need to get the test done every year to make sure the vehicle is fit to drive. If the car isn't certified, you might have to pay fines. You won't be able to renew your vehicle tax or insurance if the MOT has expired, which means there's no way for you to drive the car.
The government provides reminder services to vehicle owners. If you forget getting an MOT test done, you can sign up for one of these reminders and ensure you're always on track.
