Ever since the night she tried to suicide, she had gained access to a control screen that only she can see which she nicknames 'the Dashboard." From there, she could reconfigure anything. She could change a pot of plants into a deadly machine gun, materialize entire armies, or simply let ALL cease to exist. She also has verbal system commands she could use to attack - she calls them spells.
However, with her newfound ability, she attracts the attention of InoTech Inc., the largest multinational corporation that creates most of society's technology.
And they seek to eliminate her.

The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on. The convicted are thrust into an enclosed area and left there until only one remains alive. The last one standing gains his or her freedom and a secure job in the government. Belle and Derek are best friends and neither one are willing to kill the other, but when their circumstances change, they have a chance to fight back against the Elders that sentenced them.
