Klaus found a way to turn Elena into an Original. Klaus daggered her and no one knew because he had Katherine play as Elena until she killed Jeremy and he had no choice but to undagger Elena so she could say goodbye to Jeremy and then she heard about the Cure and decided to help Rebekah, pretending to have her emotions off. After that, Klaus daggered her again and took her to New Orleans, where later on, Hayley found her and woke her up.
