Never Truly Lost

Slowly, he told me a story about how a young boy and his sister came to live with a man who was shady and who really didn't care about his new charges. The young boy grew up looking after and protecting his sister. Even when she found a boyfriend he never stopped protecting her since he didn't trust the boy. But the boy grew up and slowly he had to trust him. Only once he was certain that this boyfriend, who became his sister's husband, would look after her and keep her safe, did he then look to fulfill his own dreams of joining the army. His sister wasn't happy because she was scared for him but she wanted her brother to have his dream. Then one day the man got a message from his brother-in-law's family telling him to come straight home. When he returned he learned that his sister had disappeared. He blamed her husband. Not for something that he had done but because he had trusted the man to look after her and he had failed. For weeks he searched for his sister, until he started searching the bottoms of beer bottles. He never found her. Eventually he returned to the army and hardened his heart to everyone. He worked hard, fought hard and led his men like the IronMan he had become. He never dreamed that he would see his sister again.
