The universe had been trying to kill her since before she was born. Chase was tired of losing people he cared about. She didn't think he cared about her, he had even said he didn't want her close to them. Lexi was going to die and he was going to lose someone else he loved. She didn't want that for him so she made the choice. It really wasn't a hard one, her life or Lexi's.
