"Craig, I think it's called love," P.R. says, and the entire table bursts out into giggles. "I mean, if I recall correctly."
"I can almost guarantee that I am not in love," I say. "I don't want to be around for that apocalypse."
Craig McKittrick has a problem. Well, more than one problem. Field hockey, anxiety, college applications, his 'quirky' best friends, sex, his mother's mental illness, and his pining for a boyfriend already has him piled up. But now he's facing the big one:
Craig's in love with his best friend.
He has been friends with Nathan Friar since childhood, and Nathan's been through it all. He's been through Craig's punk band obsessions, his late night photography urges, and even when Craig came out to him as gay.
So when Craig starts to fall for Nathan, he's confused. It isn't an incompatible orientation; Nathan's bisexual. This shouldn't be a problem, right?
They're pretty close, after all, both physically and emotionally. Suddenly, Craig's torn between risking a childhood friendship for a teenage romance, or staying quiet and keeping one of the largest secrets he's come across. Afraid of disturbing the waters of the life he already knows well and is comfortable in, he decides to not let out the can of worms.
Problem is, his friends and everyone else (who all immediately have guessed his infatuation) aren't helping with the latter, and Craig soon realizes that his growing feelings for his best friend aren't going anywhere. Will Craig make it out alive of the real life ship war about to go down, or will be be a casualty?
Guy looked at me with a serious expression on his face, "You know James, it seems to me like you might have a crush on me."
I immediately got defensive, "Shut up."
-----------------------------------
James is the nerd of the school, focused on becoming a doctor.
Guy is hard on the outside but soft on the inside, aiming to become a musician.
The two make the best of friends but when Guy comes back from holiday, he begins to see them as more than that.
Throw in a crumbling friend group, the messy divorce of James's parents and an opportunity for Guy to gain a scholarship to music school and the boys find their lives turning upside down.
Will they pull through, or fall apart?
