Based on the Prompt List for Whumptober, 15-year-old Lorna has been waiting for her uncle's return for a month. She lives alone and isolated inside a small cabin to hide from the terrifying Merged creatures.
Alex stumbles upon her little cabin, and he falls unconscious from bloodless are a battle with a Merged mountain lion.
Lorna saves his life, and he offers to take her on a journey to find her uncle. Has he survived his ordeal in the scary wilderness, or has he succumbed to the harsh world that the Merging created ten years ago?
To be told in two parts: one of Lorna and Alex's journey and the other of her uncle Ean's journey.
