Kaden stepped closer and I found myself taking a step back. He noticed. "Suddenly nervous? Alyssa Crane is nervous?"

"Uh, no. You- I- argh! Just take the cookies!" I shoved the box forward.

Kaden's piercing eyes were locked onto mine as he continued to advance and I backed up. "You are nervous. Why is that, Shorty?" He grabbed the cookies and tossed the box away.

My back touched the wall but Kaden kept moving until there were mere inches between us. I gulped. "Nothing." I squeaked.
