Inicialmente está historia iban a ser un total de 13 cartas dónde la protagonista Annie narraba cómo se enamoró y desenamoro de Christian. Pero le hice unos cambios.
Cartas a un amor perdido, relata una historia de amor a través de cartas realizadas por Annie, quien se ve obligada a separarse de Christian por circunstancias del destino.
Annie usa estas cartas para escapar del vacío y la constante necesidad que solía tener en todo lo relacionado con Christian.
Christian se fue y partió su corazón, la mejor manera de liberar el dolor fue a través de la escritura.
La historia se narra desde el punto de vista de Maryta, la nieta de Annie. Quien a través de la historia y la lectura de las cartas narra cómo fue la vida de inmigrante de Annie y varias de sus vivencias.
