There are, or at least seem to be, only two people in the world who can truly tell what goes on inside other people's heads. The first of this pair is the whimsical daydreamer Faerie, who takes pride in her strange name and the fact that she can see "magic", or colorful manifestations of thoughts and feelings that float around in the air around her. On the other hand there is the social outcast Milo, who can hear the thoughts of everyone around him, and hates the constant clutter of noise that fills his head. These two, no matter how different, can both see into the minds of others. But when Faerie moves to New York City and ends up living in the same building and attending the same high school as Milo, their paths have no choice but to cross. These two outsiders have been separated from the rest of the world for their whole lives, but what happens when they both finally meet someone else who understands what they are going through?
