They understand each other like no one else has. Kate meets Luke's sister, Emma, who ends up being her best friend. Luke shows Kate that there are people who can care about her, and how wonderful the world can be.

She thought long and hard about her answer, "It's like drowning but... you can see everyone else around you... breathing" ••••• "I'm Fine" - the biggest lie a person has ever told. Courtney was Luke's best friend until she fell into depression and there was no one to catch her. Not until Mark came along and everything was okay, apart from Luke was being torn apart every time he saw them - but it was making her happy, the relationship, so he was 'Fine'.
